Off the beaten path in Orlando?

Quote from Stephen West on April 4, 2025, 11:25 pmI'm going to a reunion in Orlando, Florida in August. I'm planning to stay an extra week to make the most of it. I'd like to find some fun family activities that go beyond the usual theme parks. What do you recommend for a family of four that's off the beaten path?

Quote from Mike Redmond on April 12, 2025, 12:11 pmWe love to vacation in Orlando, and there's plenty to do that won't break the bank. I think your kiddos will enjoy the Orlando Science Center, which has multiple hands-on exhibits and interactive media to explore. Tickets are less than $30, too. Another cheap event is the open mic night at the Funny Bone Comedy Club, which is open to all ages and free to attend. Some amateurs are better than others, of course, but it's definitely good entertainment overall. Â
If you're not afraid of heights and open to spending more, then I suggest you go to Bob's Balloons, where you can take a hot air balloon ride over the city. Sadly, it's pretty pricey at $275 per person, but it's an experience that you'll never forget. Â

How do you feel about hiking? There are some great hiking trails at the Tibet-Butler Preserve. There are lush views and plenty of wildlife to take in. It's a serene place. Just thought I'd share since you said you enjoy vacationing in Orlando. Â

Quote from Martin Smith on May 11, 2025, 11:57 amVacationing in Florida is a big one for us as well. There's a fun trampoline park in Kissimmee that would easily help you all kill a couple of hours. It's called Altitude. The prices aren't too bad, and it's indoors, so it's a good place to visit if it's raining outside or you just want to beat the heat.
