Opening a store in San Francisco

I am a little fed up of the rat race and thinking of opening a store/cafe in San Francisco. How easy or difficult is it to open and operate a store? I don't mind the initial investment and hassle involved but I am not sure if I am capable enough to keep it running.

If you have worked as a project manager then you may be able to use some experience to successfully manage your store. The switch from job to business would not be easy and the learning curve would be steep but you will be your own boss.

If someone in your friend circle or family is already into this, I would suggest to first take some experience by working there and see what all things are involved. That would be a good starting point for you.

If you do plan to open a store, please keep us posted. From my perspective, it is not that simple to open and successfully run a store. That being said, nowadays, nothing is easy so you might as well, give it a try. If it doesn't work well, you may switch back to your job.

If you'd rather avoid the hassle of  licensing a business and obtaining all those permits, then why not look into buying someone out?  You could even keep the same staff on hand.
