What are the Best Restaurants in NYC Only Locals Know About?
I recently moved to New York I am a foodie and am open to making some new friends. I want to find the right spots with good food at best prices.
Hey, welcome to NYC! As a fellow foodie, you’re in the right place. For low-key spots locals love, check out White Bear in Flushing for amazing spicy wontons or Arepa Lady in Jackson Heights for authentic Colombian. Over in Brooklyn, Win Son serves creative Taiwanese comfort food, and L’Industrie is a go-to for one of the city’s best slices. In Manhattan, Joe’s Steam Rice Roll in Chinatown is a cheap and delicious hidden gem. And over in the Bronx, La Morada has incredible Oaxacan dishes with a great local vibe.
Some of the best food is outside the usual tourist areas, so explore the outer boroughs if you can. Also, check out foodie meetups or food events great food and even better way to meet people. Let me know if you’re after a specific cuisine.
One of my go to spots is Lucali in Brooklyn - the pizza is unreal, and the whole vibe feels super local. Also love Saigon Shack in the Village for pho, especially on a cold day. Not super hidden, but definitely more of a local crowd!
